The new housing development is located on the border of Sheffield City in Kelham Island, an area shaped by the industrial history of the River Don and Sheffield’s legacy as the "Steel City." Once a hub for steel production, Kelham Island has now transformed into a modern development zone.

Nestled within the natural landscape of hills, rivers, and woodlands, the project draws inspiration from the harmonious integration of urban and natural environments. Drawing parallels with the ancient Chinese concept of utopia, where mountains symbolize refuge and renewal, the development aims to create a peaceful, community-oriented living space that balances modern living with a sense of tranquility and escape.

From the direct view, individuals can observe the dynamic rhythm of the exposed beams, creating a sense of extension toward the street. In contrast, the side view offers a more static scene of neatly arranged bookshelves, inviting people into a calm space for reading and book selection.

The design seamlessly integrates the mountain-like structure into the surrounding cityscape, reflecting the Sheffield hills, where it functions as both a building and a symbolic element of nature. People move through the space like the flow of water, enhancing the connection between the natural landscape and the urban environment.
